Ringtone Tools

Kyocera/Qualcomm

Phones: 2119, 2135, 2255, 3035, others

Kyocera phones can be loaded with ringtones in .kws format through a datacable. As far as I know it's not possible to send ringtones to these phones over SMS.

Example:

ringtonetools yngwie_trilogy.rtttl yngwie.kws

Ringtonetools will create a kws file from the rtttl. Note that ringtone tools knows that the input file (yngwie_trilogy.rtttl) is an rtttl file based on the file extension and knows to create a .kws file by the file extension of the output file. For more info please read the doc file on ringtonetools usage.

Now you simply need to load this .kws file into your phone using the datacable and the software provided. You can get this from http://store.kyocera-wireless.com/. This was around $45 for me.

Note: This requires Windows :(. If I have time I could try and write software to load the phone from Linux or other OS's.

Alternatively, I've been informed that some Kyocera phones that support web browsing can be loaded with ringtones using WAP. The mime type that needs to be used is "kws-audio/x-kws". Thanks to Robert Pierce for this info :). I set up a WAP site below so anyone who wants to can try it. Just tell the web browser on your phone to go to this link:

http://wap.mikekohn.net/

If anyone wants to request some more songs to be put on that site let me know and I'll post them.
