Ringtone Tools

Motorola and Motorola Keypresses

Phones: unknown

Older Motorola phones are typically loaded with either Motorola's ringtone file format over SMS or by keypresses. Newer phones could be loaded through iMelody or EMS I believe and even the newest phones through WAP or Bluetooth (using MIDI files and such).

Example:

ringtonetools yngwie_trilogy.rtttl yngwie.mot

You should now be able to take the text from yngwie.mot, cut and paste that into a web page that allows you to send a text message to your phone, and when you send it to the phone it should recognize it's a ringtone and load it.

If your Motorola phone accepts ringtones through keypresses only, you can create a file that will tell you what keys to push in the composer program by typing:

ringtonetools -keypress yngwie_trilogy.rtttl yngwie.mot

Then open up yngwie.mot with a text editor (such as notepad) and load the phone's composer program and type these codes into the phone.

Note: Ringtone tools knows the input file is an rtttl by the inputfile extension .rtttl and knows the output file is Motorola by the outputfile extension .mot. For more info read the ringtonetools usage.
